The cooking competition to set a record of 100 delicious dishes from Dalat artichokes took place on the afternoon of September 19, 2023 at the Love Valley tourist area, Lam Dong-Da Lat Tourism Association. The event is part of a series of tourism activities celebrating the 130th anniversary of Da Lat’s formation and development, opening a playground for talented chefs to connect, share their skills, and is also an opportunity to introduce to the community the nutritional values and diversity in how to prepare dishes from artichoke flowers.
Artichoke is a precious medicinal plant and food originating from Europe, grown in Da Lat for nearly 100 years, has the effect of improving the gallbladder, stabilizing and helping the liver detoxify, purifying the body, cooling the liver, nourishing the kidneys, preventing atherosclerosis, lower cholesterol… Early April/ 2023, the Asian Records Organization recognized 9 new Asian records for Vietnamese cuisines, sets of dishes, and specialties, including Da Lat artichokes, in early April/ 2023.
Artichokes have been commonly used for a long time to brew tea and cook some simple dishes. However, through the talented hands of chefs, artichokes are processed into 100 unique delicious dishes such as sturgeon cartilage artichoke soup, artichoke chicken hotpot, Phu Quoc capelin Bach Hoa artichokes, H’Mong chicken stewed with artichokes, stewed pigeons with artichokes and fresh ginseng, artichoke fried rice with sturgeon rolled in five colors, artichoke moon cake, Artichoke pate, salmon with pine nut artichoke sauce… Furthermore, chefs will always be confident with their dishes when accompanied by Cholimex Food spices!
The contest attracted more than 100 chefs to participate and contributed to bringing many Da Lat agricultural products, such as precious and rare vegetables medicinal herbs Artichoke, into delicious and beautiful dishes on the dining table. Enhance and position the culinary brand of vegetables, flowers, tubers, fruits, and medicinal plants in Da Lat for domestic and foreign tourists.
